Lorensbergs Chosen to Facilitate Pivotal Conference - July 2008
Lorensbergs has been chosen to facilitate the African Green Revolution conference held in Oslo on the 28th and 29th of August 2008.
This is the third African Green Revolution Conference to be held in Oslo and its aims are to help transform Africa’s agricultural landscape from subsistence farming to sustainable modern agriculture. With high profile speakers such as Kofi Annan participating, the conference promises to be pivotal in enabling change.
The key focus area for this year’s conference is to ensure that participants leave with concrete commitments to new and extended partnerships and actionable plans. Lorensbergs was asked to help using facilitation to help bring this about.
With our extended network of skilled facilitators from as far afield as Texas, South Africa as well as Europe, we are providing a team of skilled facilitators to make it easy for the conference to develop concrete action plans backed up with genuine commitment.
New "Train the Trainer" workshop - posted March 2008
Many of our clients have specialists such as finance and quality professionals who are seeking to introduce complex solutions to parts of their organizations across the globe.
The challenge they have faced is that often these specialists need coaching in how to train in a brain friendly way, especially when the subject can be overwhelming when delivered by Powerpoint alone. Also being aware of cultural differences and the impact on training design can add huge value.
To help clients in this situation, we've developed a workshop specifically aimed at helping those who have been asked to train others across the globe and who have not had any training themselves in how to design and deliver effective learning.
Our first pilot workshop took place in mid-March 2008 with very positive feedback.
Lorensbergs sees a big need for 6 Sigma Facilitation skills - March 2008
These approaches are based on fact based improvement methods and focusing on removing non-value added activities as far as customers are concerned.
The difficulty that's begun to emerge is that the champions of these approaches (often referred to as "Black Belts") have been trained in advanced statistical methods, which can often confuse most people working in an improvement team. Also we've noticed a real need for "Black Belts" to strengthen their ability to handle group dynamics, conflict and difficulties in groups.
To meet this need, we have designed a "Facilitation Skills for Six Sigma/Lean Professionals" aimed at bridging this gap.
We already have two major clients interested and we'll be running an open workshop in the Autumn of 2008.
Cultural differences workshop run as an open workshop - posted Feb 2008
This training has been run in Sweden, UK, China, Tokyo, USA so we've got plenty of examples and stories that bring the learning to life.
The content is based on cultural research of Trompenaars and Lewis and is enriched by looking at personality types too.
The end result is a programme that enables participants to reflect on how they might change their communication style to achieve better results when working in a global context.
The open workshop is planned for Monday 13 October 2008 and Tuesday 14 October 2008 in Gothenburg.
